| HERITAGE INSTITUTE OF MILK SCIENCES (HIMS), HYDERABAD: |
| HFIL in its Dairy Division have set up an Institute as above (HIMS) as one of the activities in the Training & Development sub function of HR from the academic year 2010-11. The objective of this endeavour is to train the rural based human resource in a structured manner in milk science and technology with two semester (twelve months) course work at Hyderabad and one semester (six months) work experience in various multifunctional Dairy processing units as here under. |

Note: During third semester DE 316 course shall be given only for ITI Fitters / Electricians who are admitted in Heritage Dairyman Certificate Course. The candidates’ choice, performance and HFIL assessment of candidates shall decide specialization of candidates. Candidates have to register for one course among the above after successful completion of first two semesters course work with a minimum of 60 per cent marks.
Subsequent to the successful completion of the above professional academic requirement, a certificate “HERITAGE DAIRYMAN” shall be awarded and the candidates shall be placed into various functions across HFIL in suitable positions.
The approach chosen is to select 10th class passed rural youth (who have studied at least 4 years up to 10th class in rural areas) with less than 19 years or with ITI fitter / electrician certificate after 10th class with less than 20 years age by 30th June of the year of selection on merit, suitability and or interview as “Company Apprentice – Heritage Dairyman” and shall be trained to make them suitable to handle various dairy processing activities. For this purpose HFIL have designed above mentioned curriculum exclusively for “Heritage Dairyman” certificate course to meet the requirements of dairy processing units with an allotted training slot of 46 per cent for Dairy Technology, 23 per cent for Dairy Engineering, 15.5 per cent to each of Quality and Dairy Management and have developed infrastructure at Uppal Dairy Unit, Hyderabad with full time Director, required faculty including support staff. It is also proposed to conduct similar courses in other parts of country, in course of time, basing on the requirements.
The course is offered free of cost exclusively for selected “Company Apprentice – Heritage Dairyman” only and shall be for a period of 18 months with financial assistance of Rs.1950/- (one thousand nine hundred fifty only) per month per candidate.
Since this activity is exclusively an internal HRD training activity of HFIL necessity of obtaining affiliation / recognition of any university or Government departments is not in agenda and instead HIMS awards Certificate after training as recognition of professional competency of candidates in the field of Dairy processing activities. |
